Northland Elections 2025
Northland Elections 2025
Your independent guide to the local elections – focused on accessibility, smart growth, reducing costs and fresh ideas
Who We Are
I’m Glen McMillan, a Northland disability advocate and business owner. I am not running for office—my goal is to give voters a one-stop resource to compare candidates’ views fairly.
As someone who believes in:
✅ Growing our region by attracting new residents and visitors
✅ Balancing budgets wisely—without endless service cuts that hurt communities
✅ Solving problems creatively, beyond "business as usual"
…I created this site to help you decide what matters most in 2025.
How This Works
-
We ask every candidate the same questions—focused on disability access, economic growth, and long-term solutions.
-
Their answers are published verbatim, so you can compare views side-by-side.
-
You decide which priorities align with yours.
No spin. No bias. Just clarity.

Why This Matters
Northland needs leaders who:
♿ Prioritise accessibility in housing, transport, and public spaces
💡 Think outside the box to reduce costs and maintain services
📈 Grow our economy by making this a place people choose to live and visit
This election is about more than promises—it’s about practical plans.
Assessing Candidate Positions | Promoting Transparency
Welcome to Northland Elections 2025, an independent initiative to inform voters by directly engaging with local candidates. Our goal is simple: Ask clear questions, share responses (or non-responses), and let voters decide.
Why This Matters
Local elections shape policies that affect our daily lives—especially for marginalised communities, including people with disabilities. Yet, too often, voters lack clear information on where candidates stand.
This platform ensures:
✅ Direct accountability – Candidates answer the same questions publicly.
✅ Informed voting – Residents see who engages with key issues.
✅ Transparency – All responses (or lack thereof) are documented.
How It Works
-
Questions Sent: Candidates receive fair, relevant questions (e.g., disability access, infrastructure, climate resilience).
-
Responses Published: Answers are posted verbatim; non-responses are noted.
-
Voters Decide: You judge their engagement and positions.
Example Question:
"What specific actions have you taken to improve accessibility for people with disabilities in Northland, and what will you prioritise if elected?"
(If a candidate doesn’t reply, it will be noted—engagement matters!)
Staying Neutral & Lawful
-
This is not endorsing any candidate.
-
All content follows NZ electoral laws (e.g., no false statements, impartial tone).
-
Corrections? Candidates may request clarifications.
Get Involved

Check back: Responses will be updated regularly.
-
Share responsibly: Help voters make informed choices.
